Typewriter-Literary-Translations-237x300Literary Translation is understood as the transfer of a literary work into another language. It occurs in what linguist Jakobson called inter-linguistic translation and it involves the translation of literary works (poetry, plays, short stories, testimonials, novels.).

Literary translation is  considered a literary pursuit in its own right. For example, notable in Spanish-speaking specifically as translators are figures such as Octavio Paz, José Martí, Julio Córtazar, Eliseo Diego.

Other writers, among many who have made a name for themselves as literary translators, include  Jorge Luis Borges, Robert Stiller, and Ezra Pound.
